Statement of Intent

My thesis work, Pawse is about a mental health company idea that incorporates pets into people’s wellness journey. My target audience is adult pet lovers. I feel as though they would be able to understand and appreciate the therapy office feeling of the space.

Throughout the installation, there are a number of different physical and digital assets that people will be able to interact with. I used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create all of the work in the space. On the walls, there are posters about pets and human relationships, pictures of real people’s pets that have impacted their life, and the branding poster. There is also a computer that has a prototype of the website, a tablet where visitors can swipe through the different screenshots of the app, and the company’s brand guide book. All of these elements in the installation allow the visitors to learn more about the company and what it has to offer.

My installation is a mock version of  a Pawse therapy office. To design the room, I employed color and texture to create a comfortable and safe space where people can enter and feel as though they have walked into a therapy session. The area with the carpet is the space where the therapy session happens, and the hardwood floor area is the therapist’s designated work space. The walls have been painted light purple from the brand guide because it symbolizes serenity, calmness, and tranquility.

When people walk through and interact with my exhibit, I want them to feel immersed and feel as though they have actually walked into a therapy room. I want them to feel comfortable and relaxed as this space that I have created is a safe space for them. When they walk away from the exhibit, I intend to have them think about the impact that pets have on our everyday lives and how they contribute to our wellness physically and mentally.
